Greg Funk

I bring 14 years of progressive Law Enforcement experience to serve Emery County. I started out working for Emery County Sheriff's Office in the Jail. I obtained my Fred House Certification and then went through POST and obtained my Peace Officer Certification graduating at the top of my class. I then spent a few years on Patrol learning to deal positively with people. I was promoted to Detective and started working in the Drug Task Force. During the time I spent in the task force we arrested a record amount of dealers. I still feel strongly that illegal and prescription drug abuse is the greatest threat to families in our community. I have seen families torn apart from drug abuse in the home.
In January of 2006 I went to work for the Utah Highway Patrol. It was a hard decision to transfer from Emery County to the Highway Patrol. I have always had my focus on being Sheriff and knew I needed another perspective to administration to achieve my goal as Sheriff. I thank all of my friends and co-workers who have helped teach me a new philosophy in how to treat the employee. I have always felt that how an employee is treated is what makes or breaks an administrator.
Over the past few years I obtained my bachelor’s degree in administration through USU, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Having experience in administration will help me to fulfill my goal as Sheriff.
I believe that change is necessary and essential in Law Enforcement. We need our deputies equipped with cutting edge technology.
I am fiscally responsible and take pride in sticking to a budget. I feel that is what this county needs in order to keep it out of the red.
I am honored to be considered for this position and for the great support that I have been receiving. It is time. 2010 is the year to change for the better. I will always remember my roots as a peace officer and the code I took when I became one. GREG FUNK FOR SHERIFF 2010!!!
